Food Vs. Corn and illness

Wow..
I am still shock and will be more and more on how our "food" is becoming more unhealthy and how it isn't food at all. After reading Chew on This and watching "King Corn", I am more careful on what I eat. I was surprise when I watched how a lot of our food and juice contain corn, and for the reason that we are consuming many of these food and eating more corn, we are making our body made of corn. Is CORN taking over America? Well, many of our food and juice has corn. And I believe that there is nothing we can do since corn has become the main thing that keeps America standing. America wants to provide cheep food , so that's why they feed animals and people with corn since corn is cheep (feeding cattle with grass and healthy food is more expensive). It will cost more for America to produce and provide healthier food to people; therefore, America prefers to go with the cheep food. It's amazing to know that meat like in a hamburger has more fat than meat since animals are being feed with corn in order to make them fat in a faster period. I don't think that there are many things we can do because there are a lot of things in our foods that are unhealthy. However, one thing thing I can do to stay heathy is to buy more food that are organic. What other worst things could there be about our food ???
Like the lady in the film said, "we don't really think about what we really put in our system?"

Praise you in this Storm

by Casting Crown
lyric without correction at :

I was sure by now. God You would have reached down and
wiped our tears away and stepped in and saved the day. But
once again, I say, "Amen", and it'still raining. As the thunder
rolls, I barely hear Your whisper through the rain, "I'm with
you". And as Your mercy falls, I raise my hands and praise
the God who gives and takes away.

And I'll praise You in this storm, and I will lift my hands, for You are who You are no matter where I am and every tear I've cried, You hold in Your hand. You never left my side, and though my heart is torn, I will praise You in this storm.

I remember when I stumbled in the wind. You heard my cry to you and you raised me up again. My strength is almost gone. How can I carry on if I can't find You?

But as the thunder rolls I barely hear You whisper through the rain, "I'm with you". And as Your mercy falls I raise my hands and praise the God who gives and takes away.

And I'll praise You in this storm, and I will lift my hands, for You are who You are no matter where I am, and every tear I've cried, You hold in Your hand. You never left my side, and though my heart is torn, I will praise You in this storm.

\\ I lift my eyes unto the hills. Where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. //

And I'll praise You in this storm, and I will lift my hands, for You are who You are who You are no matter where I am, and every tear I've cried, You hold in Your hand. You never left my side.

\\ And though my heart is torn, I will praise You in this storm. //

Double Deuce Part 1

I think that the novel Double Deuce by Robert B. Parker is okey. This book is very easy to understand since most of the words are not too difficult. What I like about this novel is for investigation that Hawk and Spenser are doing in Double Deuce. I am very excited to read what will be the over all and action for the ending. I like the fact that it is very detail and the records and crimes in Double Deuce because of the control gangs have there. I was upset and sad when I read the parts that talk about the Devona's homicide case. It was depressing to read about how Devona and her three month daughter Crystal were shot a lot of time and know one knows who did it. I also like the idea that Double Deuce is a danger place and that Hawk and Spenser are there to clean up Double Deuce because it tells me that something interesting will happen latter on. Over all, I believe that this novel is okey so far!!

Readings

I am not a person that loves to read on their free time. However, I have read a lot of novels, poems, articles, and other kinds of reading. Some of the novels I have read are "Their Eyes were Watching God" by Zora Neale Hurston, "The Stranger" by Albert Camus, "I984" by George Orwell, "Othello" by William Shakespeare, "The Catcher in the Rye" by J.D Salinger, "The Odyssey" by Homer, "The Great Gatsby", and many mores. One of my favorite novel is "The Giver" by Lois Lowry which I read in middle school. "The Giver" was a novel based upon a world that is different from the one we live on. It is a world with no color, pain, emotion, and where the society is organized and alike. When kids reach twelve years old, they are assigned to specific jobs according to what they are good at. However, Jonas who is turning 12 does not know what he will be assigned because he does not see anything that he is good at. Jonas cares for others and he starts to see new things that others are not able to see like when he throws an apple he suddenly sees the apple with color while it is on the air. At The Ceremony of Twelve, Jonas is given the highly honored Assignment of Receiver of Memory. The Receiver's job is to be the keeper of the community’s collective memory where he receives the memories of the past, good and bad, from the current Receiver which tells Jonas to call him the Giver. After receiving all the memories, he wants every body to also have all those memories because the memories has given him the opportunity to experience a new world that has beauty even though it also has negative things and he wants others to have all those wonderful memories back. I love "The Giver" because it shows how a world without color, love, pain, and other things would be boring and would not be a nice world to live on. "The Giver" is an easy novel to read, but the reader has to read it careful from the beginning to the end of the novel to understand it. On the other hand, "Othello" is one of the novel that I did not loved its ending because it was a cruel and upsetting ending. I dislike the fact that Othello kills his "beloved" wife and then kills himself because of Iago 's evil plan of destroying their strong relationship which it worked at the end of the novel. I not like reading novels that are too difficult to understand like novel from Shakespeare which you have to analyze and try to find out what he is trying to say because instead of just enjoying the reading, you are spending more time trying to find out the meaning and idea of what you are reading inorder to understand the story .

Folk Tradition

On Christmas, we usually cook a typical food from El Salvador called "Pan con Pollo" or in English "bread with chicken". Other than being a typical and delicious food, it helps my family come together. Before Christmas, we all plan a day where we come together to talk about what we are going to do, who are coming for Christmas, and plan everything out. First, we decide on which house we are having Christmas and where we are going to do the food. When we are having Christmas in one of my sisters' house than we usually have a sleepover on her house. Since the food consist of doing a lot of things than it is easier to have a lot of people to help; therefore, my family come together to help prepare the food. For example, some are cooking the chicken, boiling the eggs, cutting or washing the vegetables, and others are preparing the drinks. The idea that we are going to eat something great is not what makes Christmas wonderful, but of the time we have with our family. The food goes deeper than just being a typical and deliciou because it contains the love and unity of my family. What makes Christmas GREAT is not for having presents and great food, but of the fact that it is a day were families come together and have a nice time together.
We celebrate Christmas on the 24 of December instead of the 25 of December because it is the day El Salvador celebrates it. The actual party starts arround 6 o'clock until the next day arround 5 o'clock. We always call to El Salvador to talk with our families that are there. Christmas is not a day that we celebrate Jesus' birthday because we believe that no one know the exact day Jesus was born, but another day that God has given us to be thankful and to be with our families. Christmas is suppose to be a celebration of Jesus, but we do not believe that it is actually true because on Christmas the last person to be remembered is Jesus. For which, people are more consern in buying present, what things are will drag people to buy, and thinking of what they are going to receive. Other than, actually understanding the importance and profound idea within Christmas. Most children do not care other than the fact that on Christmas they recieve present/s. My family and I do not have one specific day like December 24 or 25th to give thanks to Jesus because we believe that we should always remember and be thankful with God. For my family and I, Christmas has to do with love and being thank you to God for the opportunity of spending a wonderful time with our families.
